Student Life at Dr. SSNPS

School is more than lessons. At Dr. SSNPS, students lead assemblies, compete for their houses, celebrate festivals, go on field trips, debate at Model United Nations and watch India's finest classical artists perform on campus. These experiences build confidence, teamwork and a sense of belonging.

Houses and clubs

Every student belongs to one of four houses: Vishwamitra (red), Kashyapa (blue), Vashishta (yellow) and Gautama (green). Houses compete in sports, cultural, art and literary activities through the year.

Students also choose clubs that match their interests: Music, Dance, Theatre, Language & Literature, Art, Eco, Heritage, Entrepreneurship and Sports. Explore clubs and houses

Inter-house activities

Inter-house competitions give every child a chance to take part, not just the most confident. Recent activities have included running and relay races, skipping and balancing events, art and painting competitions, embroidery, clay modelling, poetry and storytelling, poster-making and caption-writing, and team games. Results count towards the house championship. News and photos appear on our News & Events page.

Festivals and celebrations

The school celebrates national and local festivals so that children understand their meaning, history and traditions. Celebrations have included Deepawali, Makara Sankranti, Holi, Saraswati Pooja and Founder's Day. The school's National Heritage Room presents national and local festivals through pictures, so younger children can learn the stories behind them.

SUPW and life skills

Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) and life-skills activities teach practical independence. Younger children practise everyday skills such as folding clothes, sorting and washing hands properly, while older students take part in community-minded projects.

Assemblies and student leadership

Morning assembly is run by students. They present the news, the pledge, the thought of the day, health and hygiene tips, heritage facts and "know your leader" segments. Special assemblies cover topics such as personal safety, dental health and peer pressure. Student leaders are chosen under the school's student-leader selection and election policy and serve on the student parliamentary committee.

Field trips and excursions

Learning moves outside the classroom through field trips. Past visits have included Anagodu Park, the Harihareshwara Temple, Davangere Railway Station, a local agricultural nursery and a supermarket, where children see how the world around them works.

Model United Nations (DMUN)

In January 2024, Dr. SSNPS co-hosted, with PSSEMR School, the Davangere Model United Nations (DMUN 2024), the region's first Model UN conference. More than 300 delegates from 30 institutions debated global issues across six simulated UN bodies under the theme "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (the world is one family). Language & Literature Club activities, debates and mock parliament help students prepare for MUN.
