Foundation Programmes: Olympiads and Competitive-Exam Preparation
Some students want more challenge than the CBSE syllabus alone provides. For them, Dr. SSNPS offers optional foundation courses that build deeper understanding in mathematics and science and prepare students for Olympiads and competitive examinations. These courses run alongside regular school work and are charged separately.
What is offered
Depending on demand and teacher availability, the school offers:
- Olympiad preparation: English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, logical reasoning, mental ability, cyber and general knowledge
- NTSE and MTSE foundation: for students preparing for talent-search examinations
- IIT and NEET foundation: an early grounding in the concepts and problem-solving that engineering and medical entrance examinations demand
- Other preparation: ASSET, PISA-style assessments, Spell Bee and CLAT foundation
Who these courses suit
Foundation courses are best for students who enjoy mathematics and science, cope comfortably with regular school work and want an extra challenge. They are not necessary for doing well in the CBSE curriculum, and families should choose them only if they suit the child.

How the courses work
- Optional. Students and parents decide whether to join.
- Additional cost. Course fees are separate from the annual school fee; the school office shares the current fees.
- Subject to numbers. Each course runs when there are enough students and a suitable teacher is available.
- Alongside the CBSE syllabus. The courses deepen what students study in class rather than replacing it.
How we keep the balance
Foundation work should never crowd out the rest of school life. Students in foundation courses continue with sports, the arts, clubs and value education, and assessment in their regular classes stays objective-based and without ranks.

Frequently asked questions
Are foundation courses compulsory?
No. They are optional and charged in addition to the school fee.
Which classes can join?
Ask the school office which courses and classes are running this year, because courses depend on demand and teacher availability.
Do foundation courses guarantee admission to IIT or medical colleges?
No course can guarantee that. Foundation courses help students build strong concepts and problem-solving habits early.
